Proud farming mum, Esta Naylor, lives and farms at the bottom of the South Island in New Zealand. Mother of two beautiful girls aged 2 and 4weeks, Esta alongside husband Tim run a 330 acre dry stock and cropping lease farm in Waikoikoi just outside of Gore.
Tim, who also works full time as a bank manager, and Esta run 800 ewe lambs, in which they lamb as a hogget then sell as a 2 tooth. As well as fattening their own lambs and a few store lambs. They also produce approximately 150 acres of grains - wheat, oats and green feed barley.
After leaving school Esta attended Lincoln Universtiy and then spent a year helping out on the home farm. She then began working at PGG Wrightsons rural supplies in Invercargill before transferring to the Gore branch. As fate would have it this is where she meet her future husband, Tim.
In 2011 the couple had the opportunity to get into a farm with Esta's parents. They managed it for couple years while leasing a few paddocks for grain each year, increasing their lease area a bit until they have been able to lease it fully for the past two years.
"Being my own boss, bringing my kids up on our own farm and working beside my husband outside everyday. What is there not to love about being a farming mum!"
We couldn't agree more Esta, you have a great job and your an amazing lifestyle for your family. Enjoy!
