Becky Pope is your true Australian cattle farmer. Together with her husband, she manages 5000 acres between Capella & Clermont, Central QLD. Becky grew up in the small town of Capella as the eldest of two daughters who both have a passion for fast horses and productive cattle.

Camp drafting and barrel racing have played a big part of her life and growing up competing at both was a family affair. Becky and her sister Sami Mcleod her were the real life ‘Mcleods Daughters’ and are known in the district for being hard working land girls who aren’t afraid to get covered in dirt and do a hard day’s work.

Becky can’t remember life without horses & cattle being around and wouldn’t swap it for the world.

“I love the lifestyle and the wide open spaces. It’s great to watch your calves grow into big steers and heifers and seeds grow into crops.”

3 years ago the Pope family welcomed their son Flynn into the world, who is taking up his mother’s addiction to horses. Flynn has mild Cerebral Palsy but this is no barrier for the Pope family with a mother like Becky who is also studying equine nutrition in her spare time. You will still see them out an about at camp drafts and barrel races as time allows also.

Along with the property they manage in which Becky is very involved with both technically and practically, they also run a small herd of Droughtmaster cross cattle on Becky’s family’s Capella property.

Having grown up on a property most her life and working in the industry, there isn’t anywhere else she would want to be!

“The beach/city life is good for a break or getting away, but could never live there fulltime.”

Becky is a true Ag Woman who plays hard and works even harder! Her determination and passion for the industry she works in is contagious and I am sure we will see son Flynn out on the cattle musters giving orders to Mum in no time.

Keep up the great work Becky, or input and support to your family is invaluable.
Great job.
