Jessica Oliver loves being part of the Dairy Industry. This is not only evident by words but by repeated intentional lifestyle choices. Her love for the industry and her animals is as infectious as her laugh.

Growing up, Jessica lived on a dairy farm in Mt. Vernon, WA. Her parents farmed until she was eight years-old. After that, she joined 4-H and showed dairy heifers. She met her husband at the Monroe Fair and they still show there today!

Jessica’s husband, Michael, and their three kids, currently live in Zillah, WA. Together they raise dairy Holstein heifers and cows that they show. They also board high genetic Holstein heifers.

Her role in the farming operation is actually ‘Everything’. Her husband has a full time job as a dairy management consultant, so when he is working, Jessica is in charge of the farm. She takes charge of jobs, including scraping and bedding all the pens so everything is clean, feeding all the heifers and cows, milking the cows, bottle feeding calves, treating any sick animals, giving shots to the IVF heifers, preparing show heifers during show season, and moving irrigation water when her husband isn’t able to. All of this while trying her hand at cheese making, raising chickens and raising a family. What a woman!

Besides taking care of the animals and hobbies, Jessica’s favourite job is being mum to her three farm kids. Their ages are 6, 4, and 2 - they love the farm just like their mumma! Her favourite part of the dairy industry is being able to raise kids in this environment.

“It’s so important for kids to learn hard work and to be around animals. For me to live out in the country and see cows and calves every day was something I always loved, and I’m so happy our kids get to have that life as well.”

Jessica, you have been a role model since you were young and you continue to fill those boots with grace and energy. It is so fun to see you shape your life around the agriculture industry.
