Kate Ivey is the managing director of Kate Ivey- Fitness, Health and Inspiration. Kate has a 12 Week Health and Fitness Programme, called The Shape Up, which many rural women throughout New Zealand take part in. Kate is also a mother of 3 and the lady who cooks the lunch for the boys and attempts to greet farm visitors with a happy, welcoming smile! Kate's business is almost all online, as she lives on a farm 10 minutes from Twizel (and was previously at Glentanner Station, Aoraki Mount Cook). Kate's husband is a sheep, beef and deer farmer and she grew up on a farm in Cheviot.
"I can’t imagine not living in the country. I love the wide open spaces, exceptional scenery here and the rural community. We have amazing views of Aoraki Mount Cook, Lake Pukaki and Lake Benmore which make me feel lucky every day (except in a Nor’ Wester!)!"
However, Kate also loves action, clothes, sports and some parts of city life, so being online allows her to venture out into that world from the comfort of her farm house. Kate has a Bachelor of Physical Education majoring in Exercise Prescription and a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology, and 9 years experience in the health and fitness industry.
"My rural background and rural life, inspires me to help other women in small communities and shapes who I am today. I love reaching out to those who have limited facilities in their local areas, and to women who are living in relatively isolated regions or have a young family so need to be able to exercise at home."
Farm life is hectic, so Kate has created a programme that encourages women to prioritise their own health, yet still being able to fulfil their multiple duties. In fact Kate encourages them to look after themselves so they operate at their full potential! Kate juggles the demands of family and farm life, so she understands the challenges. Follow Kate for workouts, and health and fitness advice for busy New Zealand women, or join other Rural women in doing The Shape Up!
Kate, your enthusiasm and the impact you have on rural womens lives is contagious. A great example of making the best of both worlds work for you!
